Indian Stationery Industry and the overseas market

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

India stationery manufacturers have seen good growth in the demand of their stationery products from markets abroad. However, as per a report from AC Nielsen ORG-MARG, only 15% to 20% of the stationery industry in India is organized. There exists a severe competition between the organized and unorganized segments of the stationery industry in India.

The competitiveness of Indian stationery products in the international markets is enhanced because of availability of cheap raw material, affordable human resources, increased usage of modern technological innovations.

We have recently launched the website of our client IPMT Enterprises, stationery suppliers offering comprehensive range of stationery items including office stationery products, home stationery products and school stationery items like Geometry Sets & Boxes, Pencil Box And Cases, Compasses, Staplers, Punches, Lead Pencils, Rulers, Ball Point Pens.

Google PageRank Update August 2007

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

This interesting post talks about the imminent Google PageRank update in August 2007, which the SEO world is expecting to be reflected in their Google Toolbars within this month!

It is believed that there exists a link between the forthcoming Google PageRank update and the service outage that many Google Analytics users reported late last week.

It has been observed that no updates have a negative effect on a blog’s PageRank and this has me scared! I have been very lazy and not updated this blog of mine for months! Hope I don’t lose the PR5 I currently have! :-(

Till now the DigPageRank tool doesn’t show any change or fluctuations for my site on different Google datacenters. I guess that the actual PageRank export will take another week or so.

I have also heard that the Google will be adjusting its ranking algorithm and shedding off the supplemental results from its index. let’s see how it affects some of my sites. I just can’t wait for the update and find out if I have lost some Google Love! I definitely am going to post regularly now and ensure that I get some favour in the next Google update.

A new Wordpress yet again!

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

After a major release just a few days back in the form of Wordpress 2.1.3, the Wordpress developers are at it yet again and have just released the brand new version of Wordpress with another major round of upgrades… ladies and gentlemen… please welcome…

Wordpress 2.2

Wow… and wow, yet again! :-)

Do check out the goodies with the new Wordpress 2.2:

  • Now you have the WordPress Widgets embedded in the Wordpress 2.2 distribution, and has apparently been significantly cleaned up, and enabled for the default themes.
  • Wordpress 2.2 provides full Atom support, including updating our Atom feeds to use the 1.0 standard spec and including an implementation of the Atom Publishing API to complement our XML-RPC interface.
  • Wordpress 2.2 also unveils a new Blogger importer that will enable users to handle imports from the latest version of Google’s Blogger. All one needs to do is to provide the login details of their Google Account and sip… zap… zoom… your posts and comments at your Blogger blog appear in your Wordpress Blog!
  • I swear that I have always been bugged by not only the number of SPAM comments I receive on my blogs but also having to edit/delete them and then click on the next page and then the next page and so on… the new Wordpress 2.2 relieves one of such trouble with featuring infinite comment stream, meaning that when I got to my Edit Comments page and delete or spam a comment, I will always have 20 items on the page as the page will update itself with the next record in line while it deletes/spam the comment chosen by me… nifty, eh… :-) Thanks to AJAX… :-D
  • Wordpres 2.2 will also prevent people from breaking up their blog by preventing them from activating a plugin or editing a file that might do so.
  • And lots more…

Whoa… some load of features… :-D

The guys at Wordpress never do let up, do they? :-)

And here I am… stuck with one of the oldest versions of Wordpress on this blog as I am not too confident about upgrading… it being so old a version… All the other of my blogs are updated to Wordpress 2.1.3 but somehow, this one… I still have to get around to doing it… maybe now…

Let’s see… :-)

April 2007 Google PR Update

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

At last, it is that time of the quarter again when all those who have been sweating to see an increase in their Google PageRank can stop speculating as to when the next google pagerank update is expected.

Yes, the April 2007 Google PR Update is definitely underway and here’s the proof from one of the best Google PR Predictors - LivePR for this blog of mine.

April 2007 Google PR Update Underway

As you will notice from the pic above, there are lots of Google datacenters showing PR0 for this site when I have gained quite a few backlinks since the last update in January 2007. It is generally believed that if a lot of Google’s datacenters show PR0 for an established site, it means that the site’s PR will change, for better.

I’m looking forward to some good news in April. :-D

I really can’t wait to see it happen soon and I am not like the hypocrites who insist that it really doesn’t matters a great deal.

It is after all the proof of the success of all the hard work one puts into optimizing a site for search engines and actively goes after backlinks acquisition. It excites me to find out just to what extent my link building and seo strategies implemented on my sites have actually paid off.

So, has anyone else seen any change in their Google PR off late? :-)

The tutorial is on a German Blog but enough translation in English is provided to make it worth your while.

I’d like to thank the guy to have written this tutorial to help us lesser mortals :-)

FAQs about Web Hosting

Why Do I Need Web Hosting?
If you want to reach out to a global audience, a web site is the most affordable option. And, to have a web site on the internet you will need web hosting. In simple words, web hosting provides a way for people to access your web site on the internet. Without it, there would be no way for people to see the page.

To understand web hosting, you need to know what a web page is. A web page is, simply put, a file. When you or your designer builds a web page, you or they save it as a file on a computer. In order to get the web page - a file - visible on the internet, you need to rent some space on a computer that specializes in serving files out across the internet to “host” your web page for you.

How Does a Web Site Get From My Computer to a Web Host?
There are several different tools you can use to get your web site files from your computer to a web host. The most commonly use is FTP, which stands for File Transfer Protocol. There is a very good free FTP program called FileZilla, which you can download at http://filezilla.sourceforge.net. Your web host will supply you with a server name, username and password which you input into the program to gain access. Once you’re set up, you can use the FTP program to “upload” files from your computer to the web host. Most FTP programs work with a simple drag-and-drop interface.

How Do I Find a Web Host?
There are several thousand web hosting companies out there to choose from. It’s best to chose a web hosting company based on a recommendation. There are several good hosting review web sites on the internet where you can do a little research. You can expect to pay from 8-10 dollars each month for a basic hosting service. Once you purchase a web hosting subscription, the host will supply you with login information to a control panel, where you can manage your e-mail and FTP accounts, or they will supply you with just the FTP information.

Windows LIVE Local Beta

Friday, May 19th, 2006

Just got around checking out the Beta Version of Windows Live Local . A neat tool! Got around checking out the properties of Beverly Hills mansion of Mary Pickford, Lincoln’s cottage, George Washington’s last home and the house where famous gangster Bugsy Siegel was gunned down by the mob in 1947! Cool, man! :-)

Windows Live Local powered by Virtual Earth combines mapping and local search to put the answers to your search questions in a geographical context. This site was created with Microsoft Virtual Earth, a set of services for building intelligent Web applications that enable businesses to better serve you with locally relevant information. You can use Virtual Earth and other Microsoft MapPoint technologies in your own projects.

What say, you guys? Is it gonna catch up with the God that Google Earth is?

Well, I think it’d at least bust Google’s monopoly in the domain. Anyway, an interesting tool by Microsoft.

Google launches Search Trends Tool

Thursday, May 11th, 2006

Google has just unveiled a new tool for us all intersted in search traffic trends.

The tool named as Google Trends, aims to provide insights into broad search patterns.

“It is based upon just a portion of our searches, and several approximations are used when computing your results. Please keep this in mind when using it,” the Google web site says.

The best part is that it offers flexibility of studying the trends based on data spread over a long period of time if that’s what a user is looking for. For search engine optimizers like me, the last month’s traffic trends provide a lot of insight particularly when we have at our disposal also the regions where these searches originated.

What say you, guys? :-)

Yahoo unveils new home page!

Monday, May 1st, 2006

Great news!

Yahoo! has introduced its new home page design for its audiences to test and send feedback on. Personally, I like the new layouts, both the broad and the narrow one. The functionality and the possibilities of customisation are super.

The only thing that I miss, though, is the riot of colours that I had known Yahoo! for. They must introduce some colours to the design otherwise it looks a bit flat!

What say, you guys?
